Importing an app
Bring an existing Node.js-based JavaScript or TypeScript project into Elmony from a local folder or GitHub.
Choose an import source
Open Import App and choose one of the three source tabs:
- Local Folder: Select a project already on your computer. Keep Copy to the elmony-apps folder enabled to work in a copy, or disable it to edit the selected folder in place.
- Your GitHub Repos: Connect GitHub, choose a repository from the list, and optionally give the imported app a different name.
- GitHub URL: Paste a GitHub repository URL. This is useful when the repository is not in the connected account list.
Elmony preserves an existing Git repository. When a local folder is not already a Git repository, Elmony initializes one and creates the initial commit during import.
Install and start commands
Conventional projects can use Elmony's default dependency installation and development server commands. If the project needs something different, expand Advanced options and provide both an Install command and a Start command.
Example install command
pnpm installExample start command
pnpm dev --port {port}
Use {port} in a custom command when the development server accepts a port
argument; Elmony replaces it with the assigned preview port. Both custom command fields
are required when either one is set.
Requirements and safety
- The project must use a Node.js-based JavaScript or TypeScript toolchain. Backend stacks such as Laravel or Rails are not supported by the local preview workflow.
- The start command must keep a development server running and expose the assigned preview port.
- Import only projects you trust. Dependency installers and package scripts execute code on your computer when Elmony starts the project.
